I’m just back from a very nice trip home to see everyone in Illinois – what with all the traveling and moving, I didn’t make it there this summer. The special treat was that I got to be at a birthday party for my oldest niece and nephew. It was a surprise party, but they were totally not surprised.
I got my niece to feign surprise afterwards.
They’ll really do anything for cake.
While I was in Illinois, Scott took a trip up to Maryland for a car rally. I’m hoping he’ll post about that. Now he’s staying up there for a few more days to deal with tenant issues and visiting his boat.

Sounds like you had a good time.
Kristen and I picked a good weekend to go to Pennsylvania, because we got to be around the fam for like 8,000 birthdays… and so many cakes! It’s nice when that happens, isn’t it?

Is that Zoey or Hayley (sp)? So grown up!

Yeah – all the birthdays are in the spring and fall, so I almost never get to go to the parties. This time I got to have cake twice – once at the party and then leftovers the next day!
Britt – That’s Haleigh – turning 10 but so teenager-ish. She’s got the jaded eye-roll down solid.

I love your photos. The color balance is perfect on them.

Ha – that’s funny because most of my pictures from the party were terrible! What kind of white balance do you use for candle light? Anyway thank goodness for Picasa.

Not too teenagerish, if she’ll still do anything for cake.
That might be a good definition of a teenaged girl–too cool for cake.
